As marketing director and senior advisor for North Star Senior Advisors, I get to wear many hats. I really do love that about my job. But what I love most is being able to offer guidance to seniors who are truly in need. Last week, I helped a family locate a senior living community on my own for the first time. When I say the first time, I don’t mean this is the first time helping a family, I do that every day, but this was the first family I guided on my own from beginning to end.
After meeting the daughter, who was frantic about finding a place for her mom, I had the opportunity to take her on a couple of tours through assisted living communities, listening to her concerns and answering all of her questions. It made me feel like I was meant to do this. It’s one thing to give someone advice or listen to someone’s problems, but being able to really offer solutions and a place her mom could proudly call home, felt very gratifying. Once she chose the community she loved the most, everything fell into place. The home was absolutely wonderful to her and her family!
Another great thing about how we operate as a business is that we welcome our clients in their home day of move-in. We visit them to make sure everything went smoothly because we want to know our clients are happy. It is the best feeling in the world knowing you’re actually making a difference in someone else’s life. Our client was so happy when we stopped by to see her. I sat down with her and chatted about the day and what she thought of the new home. She loved it. I left the building that day thinking this is what life is all about, finding your passion and making a difference in other lives even if it’s one family at a time!
