Making sure that the food you’re eating is not only healthy but safe, is what Food Service Safety Month is all about. It is celebrated annually in December which focuses on keeping food safe as it’s prepared in the service industry. From proper food preparation when cooking at home, to going out to eat at a public place, keeping yourself aware of food safety precautions can help you avoid the mishaps of food poisoning, unsafe hygienic practices, and overall food quality.

With the holidays in full swing and everything else that has happened in 2020, what better a time than now to practice safety while cooking?

This is just as important in assisted living in Orlando as well since they provide three home-cooked chef-inspired meals every day for their residents. North Star Senior Advisors partners the majority of all assisted living facilities in Orlando to help guide families in the event their senior loved one can no longer live alone at home. It is so important to note that each facility is different in terms of diverse meal choices as well as accommodating certain dietary restrictions. However, what does not change is the food safety standards all chefs and cooks must follow.

Food is typically the most essential factor when it comes to choosing the right home for mom or dad. Many individuals are not aware of the food options offered, so we sat down with two communities, The Bridge at Orlando and Inspired Living here in Central Florida to discuss nutrition as well as their food safety standards so residents are kept safe and well-fed.

A lot of preconceived notions about assisted living communities is that they are a nursing home with limited food options. It is quite the opposite as most assisted living in Orlando, FL offer restaurant-style dining with several chef-inspired meals to choose from. A server comes to the table to get your order and brings back just like a restaurant! The food ranges from gourmet steak and chicken dishes to seafood, pasta, and decadent desserts with a sugar-free option.
