As we ring in a new decade for the elderly in 2020, we asked a few assisted living communities how they plan on celebrating New Year’s at their facilities.

Without a doubt, all facilities planned an amazing dinner prepared by their chef as well as decorate, have their own ball drop, incorporate games, as well as have trivia about previous decades.
More and more assisted living facilities are getting rather creative when it comes to their activities especially during the holidays! It’s important to have seniors socialize as well as prevent them from feeling depressed as a new decade arrives. Many elderly residents tend to isolate themselves because they feel depressed. They may have lost a spouse, a friend, or relative and fear that this new decade they’ll lose more people. This is why many Central Florida assisted living facilities plan big events!
Here are a few great ways to celebrate a new decade with your elderly loved one!
  • Have them participate in cooking their favorite meal or dessert
  • Serve them and toast the new year with champagne
  • Play their favorite music
  • Of course being that this upcoming year is 2020, maybe have a 1920’s themed bash. I’m sure they can help you plan an amazing party from their era.
